Violent protests in Kazakhstan were sparked by rising oil prices.
The Russian-led coalition has sent so-called “peacekeepers” to Kazakhstan – after the President called for help to end protests by people across the country.
They started on January 1, after the government announced that oil prices had risen sharply. Anger and violence followed.
To quell the unrest, the government resigned.
The president then announced the emergency for two weeks nationwide and shut down the internet.
But protests escalated to the point of calling for a change of leadership.
So what’s next for this old Soviet republic?
