British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has ordered him to investigate what a former Islamic minister said he was dismissal from his government because of his faith, his spokesman said.

The remarks by Nusrat Ghani, a former travel minister, have sparked controversy on Downing Street as Johnson awaits his findings on a new “partygate” question.

“The Prime Minister has asked the cabinet to investigate the allegations made by Nusrat Ghani MP,” the prime minister said on Monday.

Johnson had earlier urged Ghani to file a complaint through the Conservative Party. However, he denied the allegations, saying that the allegations were made by the government and not by the parties.

Ghani, 49, was fired from his post as travel minister in 2020, and told the Sunday Times that the whip said “Islam was said to be a problem” at a rally in Downing Street.

He was also told that “a Muslim Muslim minister makes his friends feel uncomfortable,” he said.

Chief whip Mark Spencer, whose job it is to keep counselors and government policy, took a strange approach to identifying himself as the central figure in the allegations, and strongly condemned the allegations.

Government crackdowns appeared earlier after he was accused by another Conservative MP of “insulting” Johnson’s opponents at the party.
