Witnesses said several people were injured when security forces stormed a protest rally in Yangon.

Several people have been injured after Myanmar security forces staged anti-terrorist protests in Yangon, local witnesses and journalists said.

Sunday’s protest was one of three that took place in Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, and similar rallies were held in other parts of the country before the expected verdict in the first of several cases against President Aung San Suu Kyi. , who was ousted from the war on February 1.

Protests against the military continued even though more than 1,300 people had been killed since then seizure of government. Dispersal protests are often small groups protesting the ouster of Suu Kyi’s elected government and the return of military rule.

Pictures and videos broadcast on television were seen showing a car that hit protesters and bodies on the road.

“They increased their speed when they got close to the protesters – it was as if they had let them in,” a reporter told AFP, declining to give his name for security reasons.

He said a number of people, some carrying placards supporting Aung San Suu Kyi, were beaten and broken on the ground while others fled. “The soldiers then got out of the car and started firing,” he added.

Jehovah’s Witnesses say that the “terrorist” protests in Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, were disrupted within minutes.

“I was hit by a collision with a truck. A soldier struck me with his rifle but I protected him and pushed him back. He immediately shot me as I was running around. “Unfortunately, I escaped,” an acquaintance who asked not to be identified for security reasons told Reuters over the phone.

The shadow shadow government said it was “sad” to see peaceful protesters being crushed and shot to death.

“We strongly answer the militant group that has brutally killed, unarmed peace activists,” the National Unity Government security ministry said in a statement on television following Sunday’s attack.
