Qualified employees will be able to take time off in the first year of birth or family planning from 2022, Publix said.
Publix ‘s stores have begun offering paid holiday for parents who are new parents, company executives announced Wednesday.
Qualified full-time and part-time employees will be able to dedicate time in the first year of birth or raising a child, starting in the new year, the Florida company said.
The change in profits was first reported by Florida Politics.
These new benefits come as retailers in the United States face a shortage of workers, with some offering new benefits to attract or retain employees. Schnucks from St. Louis recently gave employees at the grocery store a one-time deposit of $ 600.
“Publix is committed to being a great place to work, and we often re-evaluate our advantages to continue giving more to our peers,” said Maria Brous, Publix’s communications manager.
The email did not specify the payment date that new parents will receive.
The private, privately owned company has about 225,000 employees in approximately 1,300 stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
