At least 20 people have died in Mexico City after the train crashed Monday night, according to the mayor of the city.
The city’s subway crashed after people passed by. At least 49 people have been taken to hospital, Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said at a press conference. according to the Mexican Telediario press.
“Unfortunately there are children among the dead,” Sheinbaum said. according to the Associated Press. Sheinbaum said there may be people trapped in the ship, the AP said.
Mexico City’s subway system is one of the largest in the world, according to the AP.
