Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the VISION EQXX model which is said to be able to travel 1,000km (621 miles) at any cost.

Mercedes-Benz on Monday removed its VISION EQXX battery-powered model which is said to have a range of more than 1,000 miles (621 miles) at any cost, making it very successful in its demand for electric vehicle (EV).

Daimler, recently renamed Mercedes-Benz, announced plans in 2021 to spend more than $ 40 billion ($ 45bn) by 2030 to take Tesla to market in all electric vehicles, including building eight batteries. By 2025, all of its new car platforms will only be producing EVs, he said.

The VISION EQXX, the most powerful Mercedes-Benz ever built, will have a capacity of less than 10 kilowatt hours (kWh) per 100km, said Daimler.

Tesla’s Model S 60 currently uses 18.1 kWh at the same distance, the content of its page shows.

“Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX is how we envision the future of electric cars,” said Ola Kaellenius, chief executive of Mercedes-Benz.

Daimler has tested mid-year traffic in various parts of the country, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Markus Schaefer told reporters Monday.

Some of these models could be found in Mercedes-Benz cars in less than two or three years, Schaefer said. However, the CTO declined to specify when the 1,000 km battery will be ready for market.

“We could be the first to show a 1,000-mile car in real life, with a small battery,” Schaefer said.

When such a car is to be sold it is a “market decision” that must be confirmed when the car manufacturer knows how much customers are expecting and what they can afford to pay, he said.

The model, which was built within 18 months, “eliminates a lot of stress,” said Mercedes-Benz, citing one of the drawbacks of why EVs were not so much needed.

This required the creation of a new battery pack, which the company claims would be compatible with a small car and whose power – measuring the amount of power batteries it can handle compared to its size – stands at about 400 watts per liter.
