Iraq: Drone attack on US near Baghdad airport has thwarted | Stories of Solomon’s assassination

This comes two years after a U.S. plane threatened to assassinate the former Iranian General Solomon.
Two armed drones were fired as they approached an Iraqi military base station near the Baghdad airport, Iraqi security forces said, adding that no one was injured during the operation.
A senior US military commander present said the security forces had taken “two suicide planes”.
“This was a dangerous attack on the civilian airport,” the union official said in a statement on Monday.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack.
Photographs provided by the union show what the official said was the debris of two fixed-wing aircraft that were damaged during the attack, which was clearly visible on the wings of a single drone labeled “Solomon’s Revenge”.
The uprising came as Iran and its allies in Iraq celebrated the second anniversary of the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleiman in the uprising ordered by Donald Trump near the Baghdad airport.
Soleiman, a senior member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was assassinated along with Iraqi army leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis on January 3, 2020.
Hundreds of Iranian-backed militant supporters gathered on Sunday at Baghdad Airport to commemorate Solomon’s death and chant anti-American slogans.
The Hashed – A coalition of former militias now integrated into the Iraqi government’s security armor – issued a warning to light candles Sunday at the airport of the two men killed.
The U.S. said at the time that Solomon was preparing to take action against the US people in Iraq, a country that was at a crossroads between rivals Washington and Tehran.
Five days after the assassination, Iran fired shots at an Iraqi airport occupied by US troops and near Erbil in the north of the country.
Since then, more rockets and roadside bombs have been targeted by US security forces, military bases and embassies in Iraq.
On December 9, a US-led coalition announced that it had completed its operation in Iraq and that about 2,500 of its troops had undergone training and technical assistance.
