Kumar, who won medals in India in 2012 and 2016, had fled since being implicated in the murder of another colleague.

The 37-year-old had been on the run since Sagar Dhankhar, 23, was beaten to death on May 4.
A Delhi court in court on Tuesday rejected a lawyer’s request to stop his arrest and Kumar went to a home court on Sunday, police said.
Kumar, a World Cup winner and gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games, was present when Dhankad, a former world champion, was beaten to death at Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi during a fight between the fighters, according to police.
Police in Delhi were arrested and fined $ 1,350 for Kumar, a silver medalist at the London London Olympics in 2012 and a bronze medal at the Beijing Games four years earlier.
“We have made a statement of all those involved and all of them have accused Sushil Kumar,” senior police officer Guriqbal Singh Sidhu told Indian media on Tuesday.

Kumar’s lawyers went to court on Tuesday to demand a fine from the case but were rejected because of the size of the case.
Dhankad, the son of a police officer in Delhi, died of his injuries the day after the war. A wrestler has been beaten and has identified the perpetrators, police said.
A few weeks after the start of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Wrestling Federation of India said the sport’s reputation had been tarnished by the lawsuit.
“I must say that the image of fighting in India has been deeply hurt by this,” WFI correspondent Vinod Tomar told reporters.
Tomar said the struggle is still struggling to change its image to counter the idea of ”fighters … known as just a team.”
The case is the second of its kind in India.
The trainer, Sukhwinder Mor, is expected to be charged with five counts of murder, including a rival, in February.
Kumar was the first Indian to win two Olympic medals and the first in more than 50 years to win a medal.
His success inspired a generation of fighters in India, including Yogeshwar Dutt and the sisters of Phogat.
While still active in the game, Kumar had yet to qualify for the Tokyo Games where India hoped to win four medals.
