How Memes Became Weapons in Civil War

Online posts are visible problematic enough. A few pictures of cats with incorrect grammar words – what’s wrong? Memes have come a long way since the early days of the internet. For more than a decade, memes have been used as a tool in traditional wars. And they are more appealing than most people realize. A good memory of social media time can lead to overuse of the rabbit, slander, and extremes.

This week on Equipment Lab, We spoke to Emily Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief at Harvard’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy on how memes shaped politics and culture.
