Tensions were high in the occupied Palestinian territories on Tuesday as Israeli nations gathered to embark on a march through East Jerusalem.
The so-called March of the Flags celebrates the day Israel occupied the eastern part of the city in 1967.
“Freedom of expression and freedom in all democracies,” said Israeli Defense Minister Omer Bar-Lev. “The police are ready and we will do everything we can to keep us from moving.”
The Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem since the 1967 Six-Day War is unknown to many around the world, who say the city should be the subject of talks between the two sides.
Palestinians say the eastern part of the city is the capital of their future country.

The Israeli army has blocked the road to Damascus Gate
Israeli forces blocked roads leading to the Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem, while others forced Palestinians on the steps of the Old City gate.
The videos shared on television show that Israeli police have set up barricades, blocking all access to the gate.

Interpretation: The Israeli army is blocking the roads leading to the gate of Damascus and preventing the people of Jerusalem from reaching out to prepare for the “Flags March”.
Violence is raging between Israelis and Palestinians
Israeli special forces attacked young Palestinian boys who were beaten as they fled to East Jerusalem.
Nearby, an elderly Palestinian man holding a cane and an elderly woman were also surrounded by police.
A video shared with a video shows several Israeli police officers beating a Palestinian man near the Damascus Gate, as he is dragged to the ground.

Fatima Khader, 62, of Old City, condemned the occupation of her home by Israeli residents, and her children were imprisoned.
“My house has been taken by the Israelites. He beat me with Israelis, “he told Al Jazeera.” There is no international law to protect us – what is this law? I am old, he took my children and put them in prison. “
Palestinians have set fire to balloons in Israel on their journey
Palestinian freedom fighters set up balloons and burning kites from the Gaza Strip to parts of southern Israel.
“The kites are responding to a flag-raising visit to East Jerusalem on Tuesday,” a Palestinian activist who identified himself as Abu Houzayfa told Anadolu Agency.
Burning balloons or kites contain flammable materials or oil-burning rags that can catch fire if they fall on the crop.

Israeli police close Damascus Gate
Palestinian media also reported that Israeli police had prevented Palestinians from entering the Damascus Gate in Old Jerusalem.
Video footage shows Israeli police setting up barricades while Palestinians were barred from crossing the barracks.

“Get rid of anger,” said an Israeli councilor
Laura Wharton, a council lady at Jerusalem City Council, told the Associated Press that she considered the trip she was planning to be “stupid”.
“It’s a clear outrage from the very oppressive dictators who are dissatisfied with the state, dissatisfied with a lot of things, and are going to upset the people living in the old City,” Wharton said.
The move is the first test of Israel’s weak weakened state, which is committed on Sunday and includes all political parties.
Prohibiting the trip would have led Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and other wing members of the alliance to strongly oppose those who would consider him a ruler to the Gamas regime in Haza.

The Iron Dome was rebuilt in southern Israel
Iron Dome security batteries can be seen from the south of Israel, as the military deployed them in the midst of a major crisis with Palestinians in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
The idea of a new Israeli government allowing the acceptance of anti-Israeli rallies through the Palestinian territories around the Old City of Jerusalem increases the possibility of repeated hostilities within weeks of the 11-day Israeli offensive in Gaza.

‘Palestinian people are furious’
Hussein Nasser Eddin, 35, from Shuafat in East Jerusalem, said there could be serious problems if more people gathered at the Damascus Gate to meet those traveling to Israel.
But he said more police were available so they should prevent people from coming. Most of the problems will be in Old City, the housing director and local media said.
“The Palestinians are very angry. People are afraid of losing their homes and forced eviction I’m destroying it, ”Eddin told Al Jazeera.
Khalid Alian, 26, from Jabal al-Mukaber also blamed Israeli heirs for expelling Palestinians from their homes.
“This is our place and the occupants are taking over our land and seizing our future and our dreams. Eight of my friends were killed by the Israeli army. If you had land titles, how would you feel if you were thrown out of the community? ”He asked.

Israel sends thousands more police before boarding
Israeli police say they will use 2,000 troops to protect participants in anticipation of a “flag” across East Jerusalem.
According to the Israel Broadcasting Corporation, police have been deployed near the streets where participants are marching.
The publisher said that Israeli police have also decided to increase their presence in mixed-race Israeli cities in anticipation of violence.

“All the decisions on the table,” warned Hamas
When the march was announced last week, Hamas chief Khalil Hayya warned that this could lead to violence that killed more than 256 people in Gaza and 11 in Israel last month.
Hamas spokesman Mohammed Hamadeh said mediators had been in contact with Palestinian forces in recent days to urge them “not to participate in the mass deployment”.
“All decisions remain,” Hamadeh said.
The conflict last month began when Hamas gave Israel time to withdraw its troops from areas east of Jerusalem, and pelting stones at Israel when this did not happen.

The settlers in Israel have begun gathering to march on their land
Residents in Israel began arriving at noon while being escorted by uniformed police.
Border police and other paramilitary forces patrol the city streets, set up checkpoints, and block roads throughout East Jerusalem.
Iron barriers were set up at the entrance of the Damascus Gate, where the Palestinians gathered to fight the Israelites.
Young Palestinian men stood on the street corners watching, and Palestinian shopkeepers began closing their businesses. Anti-mobilization protests are expected against the woman after noon prayers.
Hundreds of Palestinians gathered inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque from early morning to protect the intruders. Filled buses come from inside Israel.
Officials say that if the Israeli occupants live far away, the tensions will be less. Groups of young boys simply chanted and refused to move as police stood nearby.
