Elizabeth Holmes is expected to continue to testify in defense of her fraudulent case.

Founder Theranos Inc. returned to witness Monday in federal court in San Jose, California, where he was taken to court abruptly last weekend. Journalists and interested people sat outside long before the court opened to hear Holmes himself.

His testimony will continue after he left on Friday, describing where he began a blood test when he asked friendly questions from his lawyer. At first, his approach seems to be an attempt to break the evidence provided by prosecutors several months ago, of a girl who lied to powerful people in business, economics and government to achieve fame and fortune.

Holmes’ testimony was designed to present him as a professional who deserves to be punished for trying to change a large part of health. In a sense, it is a compulsive gambler to take. The 37-year-old, who has retired from Stanford University, has become a businessman and has proven himself to be a cruel and attractive person in his company. If he could do that to Theranos, why couldn’t he just prove one judge to be innocent? Defendants need one verdict in order to obtain a verdict.

But it is a dangerous move. Asked by his own lawyers, Holmes has to refute a few months-old evidence that he has robbed hundreds of millions of dollars in savings and put patients at risk of having poor lab results. Then he has to do the same, but with great pressure from the prosecutors cross-examining him.
