Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand has said his team will play “in the heart of Christian Eriksen” as his team travels to the Czech Republic to take part in the Euro 2020 semifinals.
The two teams meet on Saturday in Baku, Azerbaijan, just three weeks after Eriksen was heartbroken in Danes’ first game of the tournament.
Eriksen was released from the hospital less than a week after he collapsed after being given a mechanical ventilation device, and without him, the Hjulmand team had been pushing each other for the past eight years.
“We will play with the heart of Christian Eriksen. That is the heart of the team but it is the heart and without fear, we will try, ”said Hjulmand.
Denmark have scored four goals in consecutive games against Russia and Wales, and are eager to follow in the footsteps of those who named the European title in 1992.
Czech leader Jaroslav Silhavy described the spirit of the Danish team as a great weapon for fear.
“It’s a great power. The Danes do not have superstars, but they form one big team and their system is similar to ours, ”said Silhavy.
