The Bahraini foreign ministry has said the summons was sent “to further the work of promoting Gulf cooperation”.
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry has sent two invitations to Qatar to ask the Gulf neighboring country to send a two-state solution to the crisis.
Quoting Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, the Foreign Minister on Tuesday “confirmed that the Government of Bahrain expects the Government of Qatar to consider its foreign policy terms under the Gulf Treaty”.
According to media reports, Bahrain has sent out calls for “efforts to improve progress in Gulf cooperation”.
“The ministry also said that cooperation between the GCC member states is a matter of public concern, which was stated at the Al-Ula summit.”
In February, Bahrain reportedly sent invitations to Qatar last month but there was no response.
According to a Doha News report, Qatar delayed its response because the call came through “media coverage”, GCC Secretary-General Nayef Falah Mubarak al-Hajraf told Bahraini Foreign Minister al-Zayani.
