At least 43 migrants fear drowning in broken waters in Tunisia | Difficult Workplace Issues

Tunisian Red Crescent says the boat departed from Libya’s Zuwarah carrying people from Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Bangladesh.

At least 43 refugees and refugees fear drowning while 84 were rescued after a boat capsized off the coast of Tunisia, Tunisia’s Red Crescent said on Saturday.

The boat left Zuwarah off the northwestern coast of Libya, carrying refugees and refugees from Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Bangladesh, as they tried to cross the Mediterranean into Italy, the agency said.

“The navy has rescued 84 migrants and 43 others have drowned in a boat traveling from Zuwara in Libya to Europe,” said Red Crescent chief Mongi Slim.

Libya is a transit point for European migrants to the Mediterranean Sea.

Since 2014, more than 20,000 migrants and refugees have died at sea while trying to travel to Europe from Africa.

At least 866 people are feared drowning across the Mediterranean from North Africa this year.

More than 40 people have been killed when a boat capsized off the coast of Tunisia in April. In March, 39 died on the shores of Sfax.

In June last year, at least 60 people were killed when a boat capsized.

Human traffickers carry ships, many of them small rubber boats or fishing boats, loaded with migrants hoping to reach the tip of Europe to survive.

Some are fleeing conflict or persecution, while hundreds of thousands are fleeing poverty.

About 19,800 migrants arrived in Italy since the beginning of the year as opposed to 6,700 over the same period last year, Italian Interior Ministry figures show.
