A fire has been extinguished at an oil tank in Syria after a suspected attack | Syrian War News

Firefighters put out a fire at an oil tanker at the Saniya Banias refinery after being attacked by a drone from the Lebanese watershed.

The ship was not immediately identified by Iranian media who did not mention that Tasnim denied that it was an Iranian ship. TankerTrackers said in a tweet “the tank that appears to be burning today on the Banias coast is not an Iranian ship” but I am registering in Beirut.

Possible possible drone

The Syrian media outlet SANA, which on Sunday mentioned the oil ministry, has not released details of the alleged drone incident.

The blaze erupted after “what is believed to be a drone attack from a Lebanese watershed”.

Iran’s Al-Alam video in Arabic says there has been damage to another Iranian ship but no casualties. But Iranian journalists in Tasnim, quoting “others”, said: “The accident happened to another ship … and it is not related to the ship carrying Iranian cargo.”

According to a military observer, the British-based human rights agency (SOHR), at least three people have been killed.

“At least three Syrians were killed along with two other crew members” in the blaze that sparked the fire, said Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of SOHR, who did not elaborate.

A pro-Damascus video Al-Mayadeen said the tank was suspected to have been hit by an Israeli drone. The Israeli military has refused to comment on the matter.

In a report published last month citing US and Middle East officials, the Wall Street Journal said Israel had targeted about a dozen ships to Syria, most of which are carrying Iranian oil, since late 2019.

Hundreds of Israeli military threats have also swept Syria since the start of the war in 2011, mainly against Iranian governments and the Lebanese Hezbollah group, as well as Syrian troops.

Earlier last year, Damascus reported that some had planted bombs on the Banias coastal pipelines, but the damage did not stop work.

And in February 2020, four oil and gas stations in central Homs were attacked by armed drones, setting fires and destroying property.

Natanz attack

Saturday’s attack comes after a Syrian police officer was killed and three soldiers wounded Thursday in an Israeli offensive after firing on a Israeli nuclear hideout.

Israeli forces at the time said the air force had been evacuated from Syria into the southern Negev desert, where Dimon’s nuclear arsenal is located.

The blaze came less than two weeks after Iran accused Israel of being “terrorist” following the explosion in Nanzan.

Israel is known as a military leader in the region, and is believed to have only nuclear weapons.

It has never described its atomic weapons, but foreign experts say it contains between 100 and 300 weapons.

Fat shortages

The Syrian coastal town of Banias has a washing machine that, along with Homs, affects the country’s most important diesel, fuel, oil and other fuels, according to industry experts.

The war-torn country has been plagued by oil and oil shortages over the past year and inflationary pressures have skyrocketed.
