Eight suspected rebels and two Indian soldiers have been killed in several clashes in Indian-led Kashmir, officials said.
Many shopping malls were closed in some controversial areas to commemorate the five-year anniversary of the death of a rebel leader whose 2016 assassination prompted him to disobey Indian law.
The death toll in five separate incidents since Wednesday came as violence in the Himalayas has escalated in recent weeks.
