[ad_1]

On May 5, 1961, Commander Alan Shepard flew his Mercury Freedom 7 plane to a distance of 116 miles around the world to become the first American to reach Earth’s expedition. Even within the US government, different organizations use different standards. The NASA space system looks at the edge of space and is 26 miles farther than where NOAA and the US Air Force set the space limits. So the next time you hurt yourself through the Mesosphere, look at your altimeter if you want to get an Astronaut Badge.
