The US withdrew from Bagram Airfield unknowingly, Afghan officials say | Conflicting Issues

The United States withdrew from Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan after nearly 20 years of shutting down electricity and set off at night without informing a new Afghan official, who realized the Americans had left two hours after his departure, Afghan military officials said.

The US announced Friday that it was over moved to a much larger airport the country before the final withdrawal at the end of all August but several hundred U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

“At first, we thought it might be the Taliban,” Abdul Raouf, a 10-year-old soldier, told AP. He also said that the US summoned him from Kabul airport and said “we are here at the Kabul airport.”

Colonel Sonny Leggett, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Afghanistan, did not respond to complaints from many Afghan soldiers, instead referring to remarks made by the US last week.

The document said the move came shortly after President Joe Biden announced in mid-April that The US can be exhausted his troops from Afghanistan. Leggett said in a statement that he had joined forces with Afghan leaders.

The US announced on July 2 that it had canceled its largest aircraft in the country before the final departure of the Pentagon, which it said would be completed by the end of August.

Kohistani, the new airport chief, insisted that the Afghan Defense and Security Forces could hold on to a much stronger position even if the Taliban won the war. The plane also includes a camp of about 5,000 inmates, most of whom are said to be members of the Taliban.

Meanwhile, the nearby marketplace in the shade of the site was preparing for what was to come.

“It is not a problem for us if there are foreign groups [here] or they will leave, but that the Taliban are taking over the territory at any time which affects our work, ”Wasim Shirzad, a store clerk, told Reuters.

Another salesman, Nematullah Ferdaws, admitted: “Most store owners do not waste money … because they have doubts about the future of the country.”
