Russia’s former oil minister has demanded that half of his $ 150 million lost property in Edmond de Rothschild’s bank account be rejected by a New York judge.

State Supreme Court Justice Joel Cohen on Thursday ruled that the U.S. was the wrong place in the case, because most of the evidence, defendants and incidents were out of the country.

SERGEY Bogdanchikov, who rose from the rank of son of a teacher and farm planner on the Russian steppe to lead the powerful Rosneft giant once, filed a lawsuit in New York last year. He also claimed that a banking club in Luxembourg had conspired with the Brighton Beach family and a Manhattan fund manager to squander his assets in fines and refunds while hiding the “beauty and history” of the Rothschild name. What focused on the issue was the attraction of Swiss banks as the safest financial reserves in the world.

The dismissal of New York’s allegations against the Brighton Beach family requires him to register within 14 days to show his approval of the Luxembourg court authorities in Bogdanchikov’s case against them there, the judge said. If not, the case could be reopened in New York, he said.

The verdict means that the couple “must now face justice in Luxembourg,” Alexey Bogdanchikov, Sergey’s son, and his attorney, said in a statement, adding: “We will continue to seek compensation from Edmond de Rothschild Bank despite this. court for professional reasons. “

The bank denied the allegations, and on Thursday a Rothschild spokesman in Geneva declined to comment on the dismissal. The couple’s lawyer also denied the allegations, and declined to comment on Cohen’s ruling Thursday. The treasurer settled with Bogdanchikov in September.

The case is Fortinvest Investments Holding SA v. Vladimir Oblonsky et al., 655263/2020, New York State Supreme Court, County of New York (Manhattan).
