Customers will rely heavily on alternatives to deliver new products, as they seek to meet customer needs carefully and efficiently. In September we announced our first partnership with a US supermarket, The Save Mart Companies, to deliver the products their customers’ favorite needs, right away.
When students return to university, our robots have been busy delivering disconnected, faster and cheaper offerings across all schools. The number of independent donations is growing, with recordings weekly. We have plans to grow at many new universities by 2021.
Moving on to the next chapter, Lex Bayer is stepping down after serving as CEO of Starship from June 2018 to October 2020. During his tenure, the number of cargo completed by the company’s robots grew from 5,000 to 500,000, by more than 1. million miles he walked. We are proud of the size of Starship and what he has done so far and we are grateful for Lex’s contributions, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
I will be acting as interim CEO as we search for the best person to lead the company in the future. Since I started the Starship with Janus Friis in 2014, I have been proud to participate in the realization of our vision, including as CEO for almost four years and most recently as CTO.
At the beginning of 2021 we hope to donate one million of our own. We are here because of our world-class robots, but more importantly – the best team of people who have made our company the way it is today. I can’t wait to share more of our Starship tour soon.
