SDF troops with US support carry out a deadly operation in eastern Syria | Kurds Stories

US-backed Kurdish Kurdish militants say operations in Deir Az Zor are cracking down on ISIL fighters but the SANA news agency says civilians have been killed in the bombing.

Kurdish special forces with the help of US troops have killed five suspected militants in the east Syria Deir Az Zor, according to the Kurdish army.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a US-backed coalition of Kurdish and Arab forces, which controls the Kurdish autonomous region in northeastern Syria, said Monday that attacks had taken place near the village of al-Busaira.

With help from US-led alliance, the destruction targeted a shelter used by the “terrorist group” ISIL (ISIS) militant group, the SDF said in a statement. The ISIL group, which seized most of Syria and Iraq in 2014, was eliminated as a regional component in 2019 with the help of an international military alliance.

The SDF said fighting took place that left five ISIL members dead, many of them wearing explosive belts.

“Today the SDF operated in the Deir Ezzor government to remove four Daesh fighters from the battlefield and destroy explosive devices.

‘Several civilians’ kidnapped’

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) has previously said that US troops have “kidnapped civilians” in the past. “a major pilot operation” near Deir Az Zor early Monday morning.

The federal government said U.S. forces fired “indiscriminately” at homes, killing three civilians who were members of the same family.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the UK’s largest war watchdog in Syria, says at least four people have been killed.

The dead belonged to the same family, including two who were shot in a helicopter as they tried to flee on a motorcycle, said Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman.

Al-Busaira is a village on the Euphrates, between the two major cities of Deir Az Zor and Mayadeen, in the heart of ISIL.

ISIL continues to carry out terrorist activities, launching frequent terrorist attacks from desert shelters on both sides of the border with Iraq.
