Pride Was Violent – And LGBTQ Protests Worldwide Still Struggle for Equality

The first arrogant painting was in 1970, on the first day of the Stonewall riots in New York City. For the past 50 years, Pride has stopped responding abruptly to police brutality and discrimination in the LGBTQ community and is celebrating the meaning of screaming.

The rights of LGBTQ groups in the United States have come a long way – but that is not the case anywhere in the world.

Human rights have continued to be violated by anti-gay governments, and in countries such as Iran, Myanmar, and Uganda homosexuality is viewed as illegal.

We looked at 10 years of pride around the world to remind ourselves that for many people, Pride remains the norm.
