Pakistan: ‘Find an answer,’ says Lahore residents choking on smoke | Natural Issues

Lahore has declared the city the most polluted city in the world with a Swiss air conditioning system, with people urging officials to take action.

The Pakistani city of Lahore has been hailed as one of the world’s most polluted cities and air-conditioning systems, with people choking on smokers urging officials to take action.

Lahore had 348 fresh air on Wednesday, above an alarming level of 300, according to IQAir, a Swiss technology company that operates AirVisual surveillance.

“Children are suffering from respiratory infections … for God’s sake, find the answer,” staff member Muhammad Saeed told AFP.

Air pollution has worsened in Pakistan in recent years, with a mixture of lower diesel emissions, smoldering greenhouse gases, and winter temperatures combined to form clouds.

Lahore, a city with a population of over 11 million in the Punjab region near the Indian subcontinent, has always been one of the world’s most polluted cities.

In recent years, people have set up air purifiers and lawsuits against government officials for air purification, but officials have been slow to act, blaming smoke in India or exaggerating the figures.

“We are poor people, we can’t even afford to pay for a doctor,” said shopkeeper Ikram Ahmed.

“We just plead with them to stop polluting. I am not a literate person, but I have read that Lahore has a very bad atmosphere and then India in Delhi. If it continues, it will die. ”

Saeed, a staff member, said: “In the past, I was coming [for a walk] and my children, but now I do not send them out with me.

“There are factories and small-scale industries operating here, either relocating them, providing them with compensation or providing them with technology, so that we can get rid of the smoke.”
