The settlement ends a five-year dispute between victims and former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.
Athletes who were bedridden by a former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar has reached a $ 380m agreement with the agency, the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and their insurers, the lawyer for some of the victims said.
The settlement – known as one of the biggest acts of sexual violence – ends the five-year-old controversy surrounding Nassar, 58.
He was was released in 2018 up to 175 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping athletes while working as a gynecologist at USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University (MSU).
“The settlement concerns the courageous survivors who came, forced the agencies to obey, and wanted to change,” Michelle Simpson Tuegel, a lawyer representing more than a dozen survivors of Nassar, said Monday and Tasha Schwikert Moser, chair of the Survival Loans Committee.
“Through this agreement, the survivors are approved and USAG and USOPC are forced to make changes to make the game a new chapter,” he said.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier Monday that the ruling will affect the Olympic gold medalist’s medals including Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney, both of Nassar’s most influential people.
All three women testified to the atrocities they experienced at a US Senate meeting this year.
At the meeting, they blew up USA Gymnastics and Olympic officials for failing to stop Nassar, and he persuaded the FBI to take action on his incomplete investigation into his cases.
Nassar, a former Olympic athlete physician for 18 years, was sentenced by a federal court in 2017 to 60 years in prison on charges of possession and possession of child labor.
The following year, he was too judgment to 175 years and 125 years, respectively, in two separate courts in Michigan for the abuse of athletic women in her arms.
Rachael Denhollander, the first woman to publicly announce the charges against Nassar in 2016, received a formal message Monday.

USA Gymnastics filed a bankruptcy lawsuit in 2018 after several anti-Nassar protests disrupted the organization.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that the agreement was reached after insurance company TIG agreed to pay “a large portion” of the settlement.
The deal includes paying $ 34m directly from USOPC, as well as a $ 6m loan from USOPC to USA Gymnastics.
As part of the partnership, USA Gymnastics and the Olympic Committee also agreed to select some of their seats for survivors and to develop new programs to protect athletes from future violence.
