NASA is planning two new missions to Venus, the first in many years | Location

On Wednesday, NASA announced that it intends to launch Venus between 2028 and 2030 – the first of many years – to study the cosmos and the Earth’s sister form.

The United States Department of Aviation will provide approximately $ 500m for any specific project, DAVINCI + (Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble Gases, Chemistry and Imaging) and VERITAS (Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography and Spectroscopy).

DAVINCI + will test the state of Venusan spacecraft, wanting to understand how it evolved, while VERITAS is developing a planet Earth to help determine its Earth’s history and why it evolved differently from Earth, NASA said.

Venus, the closest neighbor to the earth and the second planet from the sun, is about the same size but slightly smaller than Earth, covering some 12,000 miles (7,500 miles).

At the top of its danger zone is a thick, lethal atmosphere with carbon dioxide, droplets of sulfuric acid. The result is a heat wave that burns Venus at temperatures as high as 880 degrees Fahrenheit (471 Celsius), hot enough to melt lead.

Venus has recently been treated more scientifically than Mars, the world’s closest planet, and other solar systems.

“We are redesigning our science program and focusing on a world that NASA has not traveled in over 30 years,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA’s chief of Science, in a mission statement.

Magellan’s NASA warships, which landed on Venus in 1990, formed the world’s first Venusian map and world maps of the Earth’s gravitational force.

In 1994, the Magellan spacecraft was sent to the surface of Venus to collect more information in space before it could operate.
