Western Digital condemns the malware that my My Book tools are being destroyed remotely

People who own and use a Western Digital My Book My Cloud storage device may need to be removed from the internet as soon as possible. As he said earlier Computer Sleep, a number of people around the world who have networked storage machines took it to the company court to say that all their files have been deleted. Much of the Terabyte type, years of memory and months of hard work disappeared in a moment. Users could no longer access WD cloud detectors to detect infection, because their passwords were not working.

Several owners looked into the problem and confirmed that their equipment had been polished after receiving a remote order to rebuild the factory. The rules start coming out at 3PM Wednesday and stay up all night. One smoker shipped a photo of their log showing how the script managed to close their backup tool for factory recovery:

WD My Book Live devices are connected to the internet via Ethernet cable, and owners can use it to store their computers wirelessly or access their files from any device. It is a solution for homes and businesses that have multiple computers and phones that run various machines.

As Computer Sleep notes, the backup solution connects via My Book Live server server to provide remote access. It is an old version that has not been updated since 2015, but is still protected by firewall. Some of the affected owners are concerned that Western Digital servers have been hijacked, allowing hackers to send a factory restore order to all connected devices.

However, Western Digital condemns the incident and the malware in the words he uttered to deal with this problem. The company said my My Book Live tools were hacked, although it did not specify how the hackers managed to infiltrate it, and that the owners should leave the online storage system for now.

Both words:

“Western Digital has confirmed that My My Live Live devices are being corrupted by malicious software. In some cases, this conflict has led to a factory resettlement that appears to erase all data on the device. In 2015. to leave My Book Live online to protect the contents of the device. We are actively investigating and will provide you with updates to this thread where available. “
