NHK says 27 people are feared dead in a house fire west of Osaka.
Many people fear death after a fire broke out in a house in western Japan, according to NHK radio.
The blaze broke out on the fourth or fifth floor of an eight-story apartment building in a shopping mall in Osaka City on Friday, NHK said.
Twenty-eight people were “seriously injured”, said NHK. “Most of them have no symptoms.”
Another 27 of them were diagnosed with heart and lung problems, it added.
Several firefighters were called to the house in Osaka ward of Kita, and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire and others are unknown.
