The leader of the Malian military government says the time to return to democracy has been announced on January 31.

Head of the revolutionary government of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goita, justified the suspension of the election and held a national dialogue which he said would be “necessary” for peace and stability.
“Mali… has committed itself to providing you with a timely report by January 31, 2022 as soon as it can be discussed at ECOWAS,” Goita wrote in a letter to the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), Ghanaian President Nana Akufo. -Addo, in a letter received by AFP.
“Getting back to the legal system is very important,” Goita said.

Several civil society groups are boycotting the talks that were held on Saturday.
The ECOWAS summit will also discuss vaccinations, sanctions imposed on Africa and Guinea, which have been under military control since September after a coup ousted former President Alpha Conde.
