Macau police have arrested 11 people in connection with an investigation into illegal gambling and money laundering, a day after businessman Alvin Chau, who organizes trips to a casino in Asia for high-profile gamblers, was questioned by police.
Police said in a statement Sunday that those involved in the case had admitted that the group had engaged in gambling or online advertising in some places.
The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong reported that at a press conference on Sunday, Macau police did not name the suspects but said they included a 47-year-old Macau businessman named Chau.
It was not immediately clear if this was Alvin Chau, chairman of Suncity Group Holdings Ltd. He is also the founder of a law firm called Suncity, China’s largest junket operator, which operates VIP gambling rooms. Asia.
