The country had a chance to prevent the epidemic – but it exploded

The covid-19 epidemic is a preventable disaster, a group of 13 independent experts tasked with monitoring the global response to the crisis.

Here are five steps to follow:

2. Vaccination should be encouraged and shots are distributed. The report calls on rich countries to provide billions of vaccines to low-income countries and by September 2021 and billions more by mid-year. It also forces vaccine manufacturers to issue licenses and technical agreements. And if the deal doesn’t come up after three months, the discount is needed on its own to make the start when the shooting is most needed.
3. The World Health Organization wants more energy and money. The WHO should have the power to detect pathogens that have the potential for epidemics in any country unknowingly, as well as to disseminate information on outbreaks without permission from the national government.
4. A new team is needed to support WHO. The report calls for the establishment of a World Health Organization (WHO) with government officials to ensure that countries remain committed to disaster preparedness and that countries are held accountable for failing to prevent epidemics.
5. The effects of the plague on virtually every aspect of daily life are difficult to overemphasize. More than 3 million have died of covid-19, including at least 17,000 health workers. The crisis has “severely disrupted the global economy since the Second World War and the Great Depression since the Great Depression,” the group writes. The crisis has forced more than 100 million people to live in extreme poverty. “The most encouraging thing is that those who had fewer epidemics have fewer now,” he adds.
