Joe Biden Meets Queen Elizabeth II At the G7 Summit

President Joe Biden met Queen Elizabeth II in England on Friday – the first time he had met with Britain’s prime minister.

President and First Lady Jill Biden was pictured addressing the Queen at the G7 Heads of State Summit in Cornwall

The photos showed the Queen – wearing a pearl, white gloves, and a floral dress – smiling happily as she spoke to the first lady outside the large room known as the Eden Project, where leaders gathered for an evening party.

Biden is the 13th President of the United States to meet with the Queen, whose rule began in 1953.

The 95-year-old king has met with every US president during his tenure except Lyndon Johnson.

Her first meeting as Queen was with Dwight Eisenhower in 1957 – the same year she met Herbert Hoover, who left the White House twenty years ago. In 1951, while still a queen, she met Harry Truman again.

Biden had previously met with the Queen in 1982 when he was US senator.

Friday’s meeting comes just two months after the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, died April 9 is 99 years old.

Attending the G7 ceremony from the British royal family was Prince Charles; Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Prince William, Duke of Cambridge; and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

In the photos, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson can be seen talking to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talks to Prince Charles.

Friday was the first full day of the conference, with Mr. Johnson telling all attendees that it was an opportunity to “stay grounded in our groups” and rebuild ” corona virus epidemic.

He also called on leaders to address the economic crisis and climate change.

“I think we have a great opportunity because, like the G7, we are united in our vision of a clean, green world, a solution to the problems of climate change,” he added.

Before the dinner party, the Queen joined Biden and other leaders around the world in a group photo, in which she laughed at them, asking, “Do you think you look happy?”

“Yes,” replied Johnson. “We’ve been having fun even though we showed up.”

The Bidens are due to travel to Windsor Castle for a special hearing with the Queen on Sunday.
