Israel has been adamant that a vital region has been included in Israel since its capture from Syria – and that mountain control is needed as a defense against Iran and its allies in Syria.

Bennett, who heads a coalition of eight different parties, needs the cabinet’s approval before his Golan election can take place.

Sunday’s meeting was temporarily postponed after the 14-year-old daughter of the Prime Minister tested positive for corona, which sent Bennett alone, but a vote on the plan is still pending.
