Israeli rights activists have vowed to end major divisions among the people while taking the oath.
Isaac Herzog has vowed to end major divisions in Israel as he vows to take Israel’s 11th President.
With one hand on the Torah before the Knesset – Israel Parliament – Herzog, 60, considered Wednesday a major role in making the country.
Herzog promised to be “the president of everyone” and to increase the “middle hope” of all Israel “from me, from all of us, by reducing voice, lowering the flames, calming down”.
“My job, the purpose of my time, is to do everything I can to restore hope,” he said.

The parliament room was decorated with large white flowers for the opening. War rabbis blew trumpets, followed by a children’s choir. The assembly sings a song to the nation of Israel.
In the midst of the applause, Herzog and outgoing President Reuven Rivlin left the scene.
“The truth is, I envy you a little,” Rivlin said in a letter to Herzog that was originally published on Twitter.
He said it was a “great and wonderful opportunity” to be President of all regions of Israel – Jews and Arabs, religious and national, young and old.
Herzog, the father of Chaim who served as President of Israel in the 1980s, is expected to hold office for only seven years. Chaim Herzog also served as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations.
The grandmother of the new President, Yitzhak HaVI Herzog, was the first rabbi in the country. His uncle, Abba Eban, was a foreign minister and ambassador to the UN and the United States.
Herzog was elected president by the Knesset last month. He served as head of the Labor Party and also a senior opposition member of parliament.
After leaving politics in 2018, he served as head of the Jewish Agency, a non-profit organization that works closely with the Israeli government to promote Jewish immigrants in Israel and to send Jewish territories to the other side.
‘President of everyone’
Taking office in the midst of the major divisions in Israel, Herzog said after his election he wanted to be “everyone’s president” and work to preserve Israel’s democracy.
Despite the many responsibilities of the office and the reception of foreign dignitaries and other traditions, the president has the power to forgive.
This could be part of the country if former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is accused of corruption, has been convicted.
The president is also responsible for electing a party leader to form a governing body and become prime minister after a parliamentary election – a job that Rivlin did five times in office, most recently in a March 23 parliamentary election.
Herzog’s inauguration comes less than a month after Israel swore in a new government under Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who signed a memorandum of understanding with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.
Netanyahu was ousted after serving 12 years as Prime Minister – the longest in Israel’s history – and is now the opposition leader.
