Israel fired shots into Lebanon in response to a rocket, while US President Joe Biden continued to pressure Israel and Hamas, which controls Palestinian territories in Gaza, to agree to a ceasefire after a week of violence that has killed more than 200 people.

Lebanese security analysts say Israel fired 22 shots into Lebanon. Israeli forces say six rockets have been dropped from southern Lebanon.

At least 212 people, including 61 children, have been killed in Gaza since the violence began a week ago. About 1,500 Palestinians are injured.

Israelis say 10 have died, including two children.

Biden spoke for the third time to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he continues his efforts to end the war.

The White House said Biden had “urged Israel to do everything possible to protect innocent people” and that the two leaders had “discussed what was happening to Israeli forces against Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza”.

At least 212 people, including 61 children, have been killed in Gaza since the recent violence began last week. Some 1,500 Palestinians were also injured.

Here are some recent updates:

Israel has hit rifles in southern Lebanon after failing to launch a rocket

Six rounds of ammunition was fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Monday without crossing the border, Israeli forces said.

It said in response, weapons were fired “to the forefront” in Lebanon.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon has said it has identified rocket launches around Rashaya Al Foukhar and urged all parties to “exercise restraint”.

Pictures of Gaza show that Israel is committing “war crimes”, he said

Ardi Imseis, professor of law at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, said Israel was responding strongly to the Gaza Strip and was likely to be involved in war crimes.

“We have every reason to believe that war crimes are being perpetrated, in violation of international law, especially in violation of the principles of diversity, quantity and prudence,” Imseis told Al Jazeera.

The hurricanes appear to be coming “mainly from the Israeli side, but not only”, Imseis said.

US ‘delays’ in banning firefights ‘lead to child killings’: Ilhan Omar

U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said U.S. President Joe Biden was slow to explain the ceasefire “has led to the killing of children and the loss of lives”.

The letter came as Biden told Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu on the phone that he had returned.

At least 61 children have died since Israel began its bombing on May 10, following eagles from the Gaza Strip and Israel’s Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem. Two of Israel’s children have also died.

Biden is said to be helping to put out the fire, repeating support for Israel

U.S. President Joe Biden “expressed his support for ending the war” in an interview with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday afternoon, according to a White House statement.

Biden also “welcomed the efforts to end the violence against civilians and bring peace to Jerusalem” and “urged Israel to do all it can to protect innocent people”.

Israel has been criticized for civilians who died during a plane crash.

However, Biden “also said he strongly supported Israel’s right to protect themselves from non-rocket demonstrations,” he said.
