Tehran, Iran Commandos belonging to the Iranian Armed Forces Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have hijacked a foreign submarine in the Persian Gulf for smuggling diesel.

Colonel Ahmad Hajian, chief of the Naval Type 412 Zulfiqar in southern Parsian province of Hormozgan, was told by state radio on Saturday that the ship was found to be carrying 150,000 liters (32,995 gallons) of illegal diesel. .

“Through intelligence research and collaborative work, our navy has successfully seized a foreign crew with 11 crew members in our country’s waters,” he said.

The official added that co-workers had been referred to local judges for review but did not name the ship, its country, or co-workers’ countries. It is also unknown when the incident took place.

Hajian promised to “take immediate action” against any attempt to smuggle oil into the sea in support of Iran’s economy.
