The government has asked oxygen producers to send all their supplies to hospitals as many are dying of starvation.

Indonesia is battling one of the worst crimes in Asia with new cases being repeated four times a month, leading to air shortages in many areas.

At least 33 people have died at a hospital in Yogyakarta as food ran out over the weekend and the government on Monday asked oxygen manufacturers to send all of their supplies to hospitals and clinics.

Delta’s highly contagious version of COVID-19 has caused a large number of infections throughout the country.

On Monday, Indonesia recorded 29,745 deaths and 558 deaths, which were recorded daily, after the government last week ordered a reduction of the virus in the notorious capital, Jakarta, across Java, and on the holiday island of Bali.

Mosques, parks, shopping malls and restaurants were closed in public places, while the needy were ordered to work from home.

Bambang Harymurti, a public affairs analyst in Jakarta, told Al Jazeera that things were getting worse.

“If you look around, most hospitals are probably closed because they are too full to receive patients and are asking people to donate oxygen. “The government is urging people not to buy fresh air because hospitals need them,” he said.

“And the government has said that the police will be able to raid many areas by Thursday if this happens so that people can prepare to buy oxygen and essential oils. [continues]. Prices have skyrocketed. ”

Four cases

The fourth most populous country in the world has doubled in less than a month, with 2.3 million people and 61,140 people.

Daily burials at COVID in Jakarta have been on the rise since May, with patients dying privately at home.

LaporCOVID, an independent group, reports that at least 269 people in 10 states have died in isolation. Jakarta Medical Council says 45 people died at home on Friday alone.

There are no official statistics worldwide for COVID deaths at home.
