‘I feel like a bullet’: Bhutan PM mourns the sudden death of COVID | Coronavirus Plague News

The Himalayan Empire, which has only recorded four deaths from coronavirus, has seen an increase in the number of infections associated with the Omicron virus.
Bhutan’s success in preventing coronavirus is unmatched, but short-term deaths – the fourth in the empire – show that more work was needed to tackle the epidemic, their leader said.
The remote Himalayan country of about 800,000 people, located between China and India, has recorded fewer people dying from COVID-19 than anywhere else in the world.
The only areas with low interest rates are the few remote Pacific islands and countries that do not disseminate coronavirus information, such as North Korea and Turkmenistan.
But Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, a doctor who still performs surgeries over the weekend as a “stress reliever” due to stress, said last week’s death was “a painful reminder that we need to do more”.
Tshering said in a Facebook post late on Saturday that “it sounded like bullets knowing that some precious life had died” by COVID-19.
“I felt sorry for the nation and kept praying to our dear friend,” he added.
The Prime Minister said Bhutan was still committed to eradicating the scourge and said the country could not afford to “throw our people into something that could fail”.
Bhutan, like the rest of the world, has seen an increase in the number of diseases associated with the highly infectious Omicron virus.
Friday’s death came the same day as health officials reiterated 205 new cases of coronavirus – a world record since the plague began.
The state has seen less than 5,000 cases since the outbreak began two years ago, and Bhutan had already vaccinated almost all adults by mid-2021.
A neighbor and senior business partner in India, by contrast, passed the 41 million confirmed patients on Sunday.
India has also recorded an estimated 500,000 deaths, the highest number of deaths in the world after the United States and Brazil, although research has shown that the country’s real risk could be increased 10 times.
