Ban comes amid growing tensions between the UK and China over independence from Hong Kong, the former British colony.
Hong Kong will ban all passenger flights from the UK from Thursday as it seeks to stop the spread of new strains of coronavirus.
In a statement from the Hong Kong government on Monday, the UK was identified as “at high risk” due to the “recent epidemic of epidemics in the UK and the spread of the virus in the Delta itself”.
Distributed, people who have been in the UK for more than two hours are not allowed to board flights to Hong Kong.
The city confirmed its first local COVID case in connection with the Delta reform last week, ending 16 days of local cases.
This is the second time that the Hong Kong government has banned air travel from the UK, in line with a law passed last December.
The ban comes as a result of a dispute between the UK and China over independence from Hong Kong, which was a British colony until it was granted to China in 1997.
The UK has criticized China for imposing a security law in Hong Kong and tightening media coverage, saying Beijing is undermining the country’s sovereignty.
The ban on evacuation was prompted by the government’s policy of non-violence in Hong Kong.
Traffic suspensions are administered as five or more riders arriving from the same location after being diagnosed with a certain type of coronavirus, or a seven-day viral mutation.
Prohibition is also given if 10 or more riders from the same site have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus through any tests, including self-administered tests, within seven days.
The UK also reported that 14,876 people were diagnosed with coronavirus infection on Sunday, as they witnessed the recent spread of the disease. It has confirmed more than four million cases since the epidemic.
Hong Kong, which for several months has set a 21-day deadline for immigrants and imposed stricter laws, announced Monday three new cases of coronavirus. It has confirmed 11,921 cases since the outbreak began.
The UK airline ban comes as Hong Kong looks to rest for a number of other countries, including the US and Canada.
But a number of other countries, including the Philippines, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Indonesia, are also facing travel restrictions to Hong Kong.
