No injuries were reported when a helicopter flew from Catatumbo state to Cucuta.
Colombian President Ivan Duque says the helicopter he was riding in was hit by several bullets while traveling in Catatumbo state in Cucuta, the capital of Norte de Santander in the country on Friday.
In addition to the Duque, the helicopter carried other officials, including Defense Minister Diego Molano, Interior Minister Daniel Palacios, and Norte de Santander Ambassador Silvano Serrano.
“It’s a terrifying threat, when you can see the president’s bullet holes,” the president said in a statement.
No one was injured in the incident, a presidential spokesman said.
Photos released by the president’s office show the tail and a large page was hit.
Duque said the plane’s “security equipment” prevented the “threat”.
Security personnel have been given clear instructions to determine the cause of the helicopter crash, the President added.
“We reiterate that as a government [we won’t give up]… In the fight against drug trafficking, terrorism and crime in the country, “says Duque.[They won’t] threaten us with violence or terror. Our country is strong and Colombia is brave enough to deal with these threats. “

Interpretation: Note to President Ivan Duque from Cutuca, North Santander.
The troubled Catatumbo region, bordering Colombia and Venezuela, is home to cocaine, which is a major source of cocaine.
That is when the National Liberation Army (ELN) human rights activists – former FARC fighters who rejected the 2016 peace deal with the government – along with militant militias.
This month, a car bomb was blown up at the site of the 30th Army Brigade in Cucuta, wounding Colombian soldiers and US military advisers.
When security minister Molano said the threats could be carried out by the ELN, the rebel group refused to participate in the bombing.
Since coming to power, Duque, Colombia has been enduring violent violence since a peace deal with the FARC.
