After a long trek to the Arctic, scientists warn that there will be no return to climate.
A global warning may have passed immediately, scientists leading a major Arctic voyage have warned.
Commenting on the world’s first findings at the North Pole, a trip involving 300 scientists from 20 countries, Markus Rex on Tuesday said researchers had found that Arctic ice is returning faster than ever.
“The lack of tropical ice in the Arctic is one of the first mines in these mines, one of the first of its kind in the hot springs,” he told a German headquarters in Berlin.
“And one might ask if we’ve never dug a mine and already started exploding.”
The $ 165m voyage returned to Germany in October after a 389-day voyage across the Arctic, bringing devastating evidence of a dead end to the Arctic Ocean and warning of a drought-free climate in just a few decades. It also brought 150 terabytes of data and more than 1,000 ice samples.
The archives for the trip also included calculations of atmospheric, ocean, ice and ecosystems.
Rex said scientists have found that Arctic glaciers have returned “faster in 2020 than at the beginning of the record” and that “the prevalence of glaciers in summer has been slightly lower than a few decades ago.”
Ice was half as hard and hard as the temperature measured 10 degrees above Framtjof Nansen and Hjalmar Johansen in the 1890s.
Due to the low ice content of the sea, the lake is very hot during the dry season, which means that the formation of ice at the end of autumn is a little slower than usual.
“Only a review of the coming years will allow us to determine whether we can continue to save the Arctic ice sheet throughout the year through strong weather protection or if we have already passed the necessary climate,” said Rex, urging immediate action to curb global warming.
Stefanie Arndt, an expert on marine ice science, said it was “heartbreaking to know that we are probably the last generation to be able to see the Arctic still holding ice in the summer”.
“The sea’s ice cap is slowly declining and is an important habitat for land bears,” said Arndt, recalling what was printed by other animals in the polar region.
To conduct this study, four observatories were set up on ice at sea 40 kilometers (25 miles) around the Polarstern ship.
Some of the collections included water samples from under the ice to study plankton and bacteria and to better understand how aquatic life works in the most difficult environments.
The 100 percent increments are tested almost continuously throughout the year.
The amount of information that helps to develop species helps to determine how hurricanes, torrential rains or hurricanes can look like 20, 50 or 100 years.
