Brendan Taylor says he is facing a multi-year ban on drug use, receiving a bribe to match.

Former Zimbabwe cricket expert Brendan Taylor revealed Monday in a tweet that he took cocaine and a $ 15,000 bribe from an Indian businessman to arrange a match.

“The ICC (International Cricket Council) intends to ban me for many years from international cricket,” wrote the head of state, adding that he had not organized any matches.

The 35-year-old football striker said in October 2019 he was invited by an Indian businessman to discuss “funding for the establishment of the T20 tournament in Zimbabwe and was advised to pay $ 15,000 for the trip”.

The call came at a time when the team had not been paid for six months and there are concerns that the country will not be able to continue playing internationally.

He also said that he had been “a little careless” but had continued on his journey.

During a drink last night, he was given cocaine which the businessman and his friends took and said he “took the bait foolishly”.

“The next morning, the same men came into my hotel room and showed me a video that I had taken the night before I was addicted to cocaine, and they told me that if I did not see what would happen in their national matches, the video would be released to the public. ”He said.

He also said he was “in the corner” and donated $ 15,000 to fix the match. He took the money to fly.

It took him four months to report the wrongdoing to the ICC.

“I agree that this was a very long time but I think I can protect everyone, especially my family,” he said.

He said he was ready and “humbly” accepted the ICC decision and “hoped that my case would be used as a way to encourage cricketers to come up with any unconstitutional action as soon as possible”.

But he insisted he had not planned any matches.

‘Drugs and drugs’

Taylor – who resigned as Zimbabwe captain at the end of last year – also said he was looking for a depot on Tuesday “to be cleansed and rehabilitated.”

He says: “I have a responsibility to clean up my family and to keep it clean. “I have let something control me and disrupt my vision, my values ​​and my values ​​and it is time for me to start prioritizing what is most important.”

He also said that he had been taking antidepressants and had been in “hell” for years because of his “drug and drug addiction” problem.

Taylor played 34 matches, 205 one-day internationals and 45 T20 matches for Zimbabwe in 17 years from 2004-2021, although he took a three-year international tour in 2015 to play cricket in England. He was captain from 2011 until he left England.

Taylor is one of the best players in Zimbabwe and is the fourth highest scorer in the country in the national team.

His approval comes a year after former Zimbabwe coach Heath Streak was banned from playing cricket for eight years for violating anti-cricket laws.

Streak was suspended over his relationship with an Indian businessman who sought out inside information on illegal gambling and offered bribes to Streak and gifts in addition to Bitcoin and iPhone to his wife.
