Fire kills four babies in India hospital, 36 others have been rescued | Health Issues

Inquiries ordered a fire to burn at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh state.

A fire has broken out in a nursing home in central India, killing four babies, officials say, adding that a recent fire broke out in hospitals in the country this year that killed scores of people.

The investigation was launched into a fire that broke out on Monday night at Kamla Nehru Children’s Hospital in Bhopal, said Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the prime minister of Madhya Pradesh.

“An unexpected departure [death] of children in the world and the unbearable pain, “Chauhan said on Twitter, offering his condolences to the families affected.

He also announced a compensation for 400,000 rupees ($ 5,400) for the victims’ family.

There were 40 children in the unit, of whom 36 – most of them the richest – were rescued, said Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang.

“Some children are being helped,” Sarang later said on Twitter.

As the investigation continued, the authorities informed the Press Trust of India that a nearby area could cause the fire.

Pictures in local newspapers showed angry parents protesting at the site, claiming that instead of rescuing the children, hospital staff fled.

Serious house fires are not uncommon in India, where proper care and lack of firefighting equipment often result in death.

Hospital fires have killed at least 70 people in India this year, inclusive 11 last week at the COVID-19 hospital in Maharashtra, a suburb of Madhya Pradesh.
