Facebook is testing a new feature that can promote content from businesses in News Feeds. The company says its goal is to help users find “new businesses that they may not have found themselves.”
With this change, Facebook will introduce a number of image options from businesses you do not follow. Images will appear directly under the post from commercial pages, and will be on the same topic. For example, a restaurant may recommend places from other restaurants in your area, or a more attractive color may be directed to similar companies.
Facebook says it is planning to try it out in the United States, but is planning to step up the experiment. The test comes as Facebook prepares for the iOS 14 updates it will make very difficult for the company to follow users. Facebook has warned that these changes will be destructive small businesses which relies on its advertising. Providing feedback from businesses that are “similar” to the ones users are already following can help Facebook to be visible to those companies that are not following advertisers.
The company announced the experiment as part of a larger company. In addition to these new ideas, Facebook is also expanding its presence new leaf design making it easier for business owners to write, edit and publish transcripts from their accounts.
