Egypt ‘unveils’ Pharaoh’s mother Amenhotep I | Science and Technology Issues

Researchers have found a number of new methods of slaughtering animals used by Pharaoh Amenhotep I, who ruled from the 16th century BC.

Egypt has “discovered” the mother of Pharaoh Amenhotep I, revealing her secrets for the first time since her discovery in 1881 without disturbing her funeral procession.

Thanks to high-quality 3D digital images, researchers have discovered a variety of waste-disposal methods used by the pharaoh, who ruled from 1525 to 1504 BC.

The study was led by Sahar Saleem, a professor of radiology at the University of Cairo, and well-known Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass, a former minister of archeology, tourism and antiquities, said on Tuesday.

“Saleem and Hawass used advanced X-ray technology, CT [computed tomography] scanning, as well as advanced computer software to translate Amenhotep I mothers digitally in a secure way without affecting the mother, “he added.

“An Egyptian inquiry revealed for the first time the face of King Amenhotep I, his age, his health, and the many mysteries of the women’s abstinence and burial.”

An analysis showed Amenhotep I was the first pharaoh to be stopped by hand after crossing and the last one did not have his brain removed from the skull.

Computed tomography also revealed that the pharaoh, who had undergone several military campaigns during his 21-year reign, had died at the age of 35, apparently from injuries or illnesses.

The woman, who was found in Luxor, in southern Egypt, is the only one who has not been freed from the shackles of archeology by archaeologists, to hold a mask and wreaths interspersed with hair.
