Dovbyk beats Ukraine in Euro 2020 last quarter with England | Euro2020 News

Ukraine go into the final eight after a header from Artem Dovbyk after extra time in a 2-1 win over Sweden.

The head of Artem Dovbyk in the 121st minute has sent Ukraine to continue the fight against Euro 2020 England Saturday when they beat Sweden 2-1 after extra time in Glasgow.

Ukraine advanced to the last 16 even though it only took three points in the group stage, qualifying for the cause because Sweden does not recognize Poland above Group E in front of Spain.

But Andriy Shevchenko’s side determined they deserved their place in the knockout when Oleksandr Zinchenko removed them from the front.

The train that Emil Forsberg did brought Sweden forward less than halfway through and RB Leipzig midfielder hit twice in the second half.

However, Marcus Danielson’s nine-minute red card left Sweden in suspension for penalties until Dovbyk hit Zinchenko’s crossbar to celebrate with a small group of Ukrainian fans at Hampden Park.

Shevchenko said before the game, his team had already achieved their goal by going to the club.

Ukraine survived to take the lead in extra time and were given a gold medal to reach the last eight games as an independent state while Sweden was relegated to 10 men.

Danielson won the ball but was followed by Artem Besedin who forced a Dynamo Kiev player to be injured.

Yarmolenko also had to be switched on in the middle of the extra season which would be a concern for Shevchenko if Ukraine had a chance to surprise England in Rome.

But his replacement Dovbyk was a hero as he chose the right moment to achieve his first international goal.
