More than 680 leaders around the world want President Biden to pay tribute to his actions and protect Palestinian human rights.
Dear President Biden,
We, the international coalition of leaders – from government agencies to businesses, intellectual and religious groups, politicians and Nobel laureates – call on the US leadership to take action to help end the oppression and oppression of the Palestinian people and to protect their human rights. Sustainable and fair peace – for all people – will remain a challenge if US policies remain politically unfair and accountable.
Your supervisors are committed to foreign legislation “related to the protection of democracy and the protection of human rights”. Recently, you said, “I believe that Palestinians and Israelis should also be safe and secure, and have equal rights, development, and democracy.” For Palestine, the space between these languages and their daily life cannot be overemphasized.
Even after the war, Israeli police and Palestinian violence continue. The forced occupation of Palestinians across the West Bank, including families living in the East Jerusalem area of Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan, as well as the atrocities perpetrated by Israeli forces against protesters and worshipers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is a recent testament to the apartheid system. These policies expose the social fabric and undermine any progressive development of democracy, justice and peace. Their vision has led to the immediate removal of 72,000 Palestinians from Gaza who will also have to survive the 14-year-old crisis.
Going forward, the United States must address the root causes of the violence that successive supervisors have ignored. Your supervisors should use coercive negotiations to end growing discrimination and systematic oppression and ensure that Israeli leadership violates Palestinian rights.
The use of foreign policy based on freedom is the only way to tell Israeli leaders that violations of international law will never be found again. President, now is the time to establish a new constitution in the American law governing justice and paving the way for lasting peace.
