Deadly militants attack hospital in Afrin in Syria | Stories of Bashar el Assad
The insurgents, led by Turkish militants, have killed at least 13 people and injured 27 others.
At least 13 people, including two paramedics, have been killed and several others injured in two separate shootings in the northern Syrian town of Afrin controlled by Turkish militants, human rights activists and a support group said on Sunday.
The first attack affected shelters, while the second hit a hospital shortly afterwards, security sources told Reuters news agency. Video footage showed the casualties inside the ruins of al-Shifa hospital, which went into operation after the attack.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
The governor of Hatay province in Turkey, on the Afrin border, and the Turkish security ministry also said that the attack killed 13 civilians and injured 27, adding that it also affected the military and ammunition at the hospital. The embassy criticized the Kurdish groups in Syria.
Ankara criticized the protest, saying it was initiated by the Syrian People’s Defense Forces (YPG), which forms the backbone of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The SDF said it was not the cause of the protests.
Ankara thinks the YPG is a “terrorist” group linked to the Kurdish separatist group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), within Turkey. The PKK is known as a “terrorist group” by the United States and the European Union.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in Britain says the dead are under the age of 18. Al Jazeera could not confirm the number of deaths.
“The eagle stormed several towns in the town and hit the hospital,” Syrian Observatory director Rami Abdurrahman was quoted as saying by AFP news agency.
The guns originated in the northern part of Aleppo state “where the loyal Iranian military and [Syrian] the government is set up, close to Kurdish military bases, ”he added.
The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), a support group that supports medical facilities in the affected areas, has confirmed that the hospital had two equipment that destroyed the polyclinic department, emergency and delivery rooms.
Two of the 13 victims were hospital staff and two were ambulance drivers, SAMS said. Eleven workers were injured.
SAMS says the hospital is one of the largest in northern Syria that provides tens of thousands of medical bills each month and that its organizations have shared with them as part of a United Nations solution.
Afrin was heavily eliminated in the fight for the YPG in 2018 through the war that Turkey waged. Ankara now retains the army in the region, sending thousands of troops.
