Mali is due to hold presidential and parliamentary elections next month but the military-led government has postponed this for five years.
Colonel Assimi Goita, who committed two terrorists in less than a year, has condemned the unrest in northern Mali.
Major political parties have condemned the delay, and the West African Development Community (ECOWAS) threatens to impose more sanctions on military leaders if democratic change does not happen soon.
So what’s going on? Can Mali return to the path of normal rule?
