In the midst of the centenary celebrations of the ruling Communist Party, Chinese President Xi Jinping has presented a medal to party members in loyalty and called for Marxism.
Xi’s remarks at the second ceremony on Tuesday follow a high-profile celebration at the Olympic Stadium in Beijing on Monday night, emphasizing China’s rise in economic and political issues following the changes that took place more than 40 years ago.
While releasing private companies, the ruling party has been using political power, as well as policies to run state-owned companies.
“All party comrades must believe Marxism and Chinese socialism and culture as their goals in life,” Xi told the medal winners. The festivities end with a commemoration of Thursday in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
In the nine years he has been head of the party, Xi has established himself as the most powerful ruler in China since Mao Zedong, who founded the People’s Republic in 1949 after defeating Chiang Kai-shek Nationalists in the midst of civil war.
Like Mao, Xi is not bound by boundaries and, at age 68, may remain in office for years to come.
By bringing back any anti-political symbol at home and promoting an anti-corruption campaign, he has promoted foreign policy that seeks to control the South China Sea, threaten Taiwan to accept Beijing rule, and join Russia in opposing US forces on world affairs.
