Chilean President-elect Boric has unveiled more women ministers | Political Issues

Fourteen of Chile’s 24 new cabinet ministers are women, while several are former leaders of student demonstrations.

Gabriel Boric, the left-wing president of Chile, has announced his first prime minister, giving more women and more responsibilities to former leaders of student demonstrations.

Fourteen of the 24 ministers announced Friday are women, including Minister of Defense Maya Fernandez – the granddaughter of President Salvador Allende, who was defeated in a 1973 military coup.

The Interior Ministry in charge of home security approached Dr Izkia Siches, a former director of the National Medical Association.

“We have created this team of people who are prepared, experienced, knowledgeable, and committed to the process of change that the world needs,” Boric said.

The cabinet announcement comes after Boric, who will turn 36 before taking office on March 11, wins. presidential election last month.

He rushed to the podium to improve Chile’s public health services, which serve 80 percent of the population, instead of the now-privately owned pension plan and raise profits and increase minimum wages.

Diversity in South America was already spreading demonstrations in 2019, illuminating the rise of left-wing political development and reforming the constitution during the dictatorship.

“The role of this minister is to lay the groundwork for the radical change we have made in our program,” Boric said after unveiling his cabinet, adding that it seeks to promote economic growth and eliminate “systemic inequality”.

“We are talking about sustainable growth that goes hand in hand with the fair distribution of wealth,” he said.

Communist Party spokeswoman Camila Vallejo, who as Boric was known to be a student leader, will be the government’s spokeswoman.

The financial service goes to Mario Marcel, whose tenure as president of the Central Bank was highly regarded by economists. He previously worked for the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and for the former central government in Chile.

Boric’s promise during the election to create a radical change for the Chilean market-led economic model, investors, though it has improved its tone since then, expanding Chilean markets and currencies.

Boric’s cabinet has at least six ministers under the age of 40, including those who led the 2011 controversy over higher education, free of charge. This includes Congressman Giorgio Jackson of Boric of the Broad Front coalition, who was elected Secretary-General of the Presidency.

But its coalition has only 37 seats out of 155 seats in Congress, so in order to pass laws it has to work with other left-wing parties that it has previously criticized for being too fond of law abiding citizens.

His timing will be in line with the public referendum the new law which is written by a regional convention, which can change the face of the whole political system.

The current law was enacted under the leadership of Augusto Pinochet, who led the uprising against Allende.
